THE KING'S SPEECH
America is abuzz with newfound hero: The King of England. Yesterday, he spoke, the first British king to ever do so, to both houses of Congress. Earlier he had met Donald Trump. Needless to say that was an historic meeting, at a time when the US is fighting Iran, Iran is executing tens of thousands of its own citizens, and the world is being held hostage financially by a state that is sending missiles to attack most of the other states in the area.
Opinion is divided on what to do.
But King Charles unified hearts and minds in DC, with both US political parties breaking into long rounds of applause. His very British sense of humour put at ease the warring representatives, in a televised speech that was watched by millions.
On the third day of his visit, he came to Gotham, where he continued to win over the Yanks. Starting with Ground Zero, where he shared the stage with an ex-mayor and the current mayor, he was well received, as was his wife, Camilla.
From there they parted ways to do separate events. Her major appearance was at the New York Public Library, where she read to children, from the works of A.A. Milne.
Her husband also spent time with youngsters; he showed up north, at Harlem Grown, a non-profit community and youth empowerment group that turns abandoned lots into sustainable farms. His Highness is quite the environmentalist; he is well know back home for his works in that field, including his support of hemp.
His tour spread good feeling, not just among Anglo-Saxons, but to everyone. Many Spanish speakers were impressed with him and want to invite him to Spanish speaking nations. Anglo-Latino relations are at an all time high, and I predict that they will continue to be better and better. For now, the Regent is concentrating on continuing his tout to Commonwealth nations, his next stop will be Bermuda, which will be his first visit to a Commonwealth nation since his coronation.
We were all quite happy for success of his visit, and expect that he will continue to have support in the next legs of his tour to Commonwealth nations, and in the future, to other nations as well, especially Spanish speaking ones.
Mae America yn llawn cyffro o arwr newydd: Brenin Lloegr. Ddoe, siaradodd, y brenin Prydeinig cyntaf erioed i wneud hynny, â dau dŷ'r Gyngres. Yn gynharach roedd wedi cwrdd â Donald Trump. Yn ddiau, roedd hwnnw'n gyfarfod hanesyddol, ar adeg pan fo'r Unol Daleithiau yn ymladd yn erbyn Iran, Iran yn dienyddio degau o filoedd o'i dinasyddion ei hun, a'r byd yn cael ei ddal yn wystl yn ariannol gan wladwriaeth sy'n anfon taflegrau i ymosod ar y rhan fwyaf o'r taleithiau eraill yn yr ardal.Mae barn wedi'i rhannu ynghylch beth i'w wneud.
Ond fe wnaeth y Brenin Siarl uno calonnau a meddyliau yn Washington, gyda'r ddwy blaid wleidyddol yn yr Unol Daleithiau yn torri i mewn i rowndiau hir o gymeradwyaeth. Tawelodd ei synnwyr digrifwch Prydeinig iawn y cynrychiolwyr rhyfelgar, mewn araith deledu a wyliwyd gan filiynau.
