ROCKETMAN Someone I respect a lot in life in Sir Elton John. His talent is unsurpassed, and his playing encouraged me at a young age to learn to play piano. Not that I will play the Steinway at Carnegie Hall, but I did learn basic music theory and can play many of his melodies and some easy Bach and Chopin. Elton of course can play a lot more. At the age of three, after hearing a Haydn concerto, he sat down and played the entire composition, note for note. In his concerts and recordings he is noted for artistic integrity. True, he had his days with drugs, which I am against, and other aspects of his lifestyle are not what I agree with. To his credit, he kicked the drug habit (Jagger and his mates, who did not want to roll stoned all their lives). Elton gave credit to a 'higher power.' To whom I credit with turning my attention to Elton. While my days of youth did not include drugs and other vices, it had some issues, and a lack at times of direction. Learning music gave me foc...
